Summary/Objective: The Construction Laborer is responsible for physical labor at construction sites

Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the On-Site Superintendent

• May operate hand and power tools of all types
• Clean and prepare construction sites
• Clean up rubble, debris and other waste materials
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations using picks, shovels and rakes
• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to Superintendent’s direction
• Erect or dismantle temporary structures
• Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails or bolts
• Mix, pour or spread concrete
• Smooth or finish freshly poured cement or concrete, using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered cement finishing tools
• Lubricate or clean machinery, equipment or tools
• Assist other craft workers
• Must be self-motivated and able to find activities to occupy time that will improve skill and job knowledge

• Regular and predictable attendance is required
• Performs other work as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A high school graduate (or GED) preferred, but not required

Summary/Objective:  The Concrete Finisher will lay, smooth and finish poured concrete surfaces for various residential, commercial and government building sites.  Projects may include floors, patios, slabs, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and roads

• Consults with job Superintendent to determine the shape, consistency, finish and other specifications of the project and plans accordingly

• Plans project and drying time to ensure that concrete will dry and cure correctly; monitors weather and wind throughout the process to ensure proper curing
• Builds and uses forms to shape concrete to specified levels and consistencies
• Uses a variety of tools, such as straight-edges, floats, rakes, shovels, trowels, and brooms, to spread, level, smooth, and finish concrete and surface
• Casts expansion joints and edges as needed
• Mounts fixtures, such as anchor bolts, steel plates, or door sills, in freshly poured concrete
• Waterproofs or restores surface by applying hardening and sealing compounds.
• Levels and evens surface as needed by chipping, scraping, and grinding uneven spots or ridges using power or hand tools
• Repairs and reinforces existing concrete surfaces, which may include removing ridges and cavities, resurfacing, or cleaning
• Assists with concrete form setting and tying rebar
• Cleans surface, tools, and surrounding area thoroughly
• Must be self-motivated and able to find activities to occupy time that will improve individual skills and job knowledge

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:  A high school graduate or equivalent

Experience:  At least two (2) years of concrete finishing experience

• Operates construction, excavation, hauling and maintenance equipment including backhoes, front-end loaders, skip loaders, skid steers, curb & gutter machine, bulldozers, excavators, motor grader and dump trucks as required

• Uses equipment for construction site demolition and/or excavation and to prepare building sites for utility installations, structural concrete, and exterior site concrete such as parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, etc.
• Transports tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites
• Prior to operating equipment, conducts routine inspections needed for maintenance and repairs
• Monitors gauges and other indicators to ensure safe operation and overall performance of equipment
• Fuels and lubricates equipment as needed
• Performs or requests necessary repairs and adjustments to equipment

Summary/Objective:  The Concrete Superintendent is the on-site representative at concrete construction sites.  The Concrete Superintendent coordinates on site construction activities and supervises Ridgway Valley Enterprises, Inc. (“RVE”) personnel.  This includes ensuring the project progresses on schedule, verifying materials and equipment are delivered on time, and coordinating the work of the various trades such that workers do not interfere with one another.  The Concrete Superintendent also works closely with the RVE Project Manager assigned to the project.

Supervision Received:  Works under the direct supervision of the Owner/President with general oversight from the Senior Superintendent and/or Chief Financial Officer.

Supervision Exercised:  This position has direct supervisory responsibility, and works closely with the Senior Superintendent in determining, allocating, and overseeing the manpower needs of the project including self-perform construction workers and subcontractors.

• Reviews and analyzes project plans and specifications in order to fully understand the project and scope of work.
• Develops a schedule and cost-effective plan for completion of assigned project.
• Coordinates and schedules the work activities of RVE self-perform construction workers, subcontractors, and professionals, communicating to and via Project Manager to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate.
• Coordinates with suppliers for timely delivery of materials in collaboration with the Project Manager, where necessary.
• Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness.
• Prepares and provides progress reports to Project Manager, Owner, and/or Senior Superintendent, and makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
• Collaborates with architect, engineer, and other pertinent stakeholders to ensure specifications, zoning requirements, and other regulations are met.
• Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans are followed.
• Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies and ensures weekly safety meetings for RVE construction workers are conducted.
• Builds and maintains positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
• Collaborates with the Project Manager and the Project Coordinator in the project close-out process including “As-Built” drawings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:  High School Graduate or Equivalent

Experience:  A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in the Commercial construction field in a similar or related position.
